Wood Turning |

A few bowls on the lathe ... Rockwell 14" lathe equipped with my previous chuck, a Nova G3, which I wasn't pleased with, so traded that in for a OneWay Talon Chuck. |

"The Turnery" This Garden House was built in the back corner of our backyard, as a dual purpose building for storing garden tools (the low roofed section at the back) and a studio at the front for my partner Sylvia to do her Oil Paintings. Since I built this fine structure, Sylvia went on to open her studio in Westdale, so I set up the lathe in there instead. |

Inside a 100 square foot Garden House built of rough pine board, I've set up my trusty
old Rockwell-Beaver wood lathe, equipped it with a OneWay Talon chuck and
assorted jaws to hold the work. The Rockwell is semi-retired for now, just doing
little jobs. The new Union Graduate bowl lathe does al the heavy work now ! An assortment of OneWay, Lee Valley & Sorby HSS turning tools line the wall behind the lathe. Stacks of wood blanks ready to be turned into bowls and boxes sit waiting on the shelves and anywhere a pile can be stacked. Though it's a chilly February afternoon, it's warm and cozy in here, the air is filled with the sweet aroma of sassafras and walnut shavings. The windows and french doors let in plenty of natural light . |
