Fine Scale Miniatures Jewel Series Kit # 1 "Pile Driver"
This was the first in George Selios' Jewel Series kits. Built pretty much as intended, save relocation of a few details here and there. This model was built while on vacation at the cottage in Haliburton, outside on the picnic table!

The corrugated iron roofing was weathered using Radio Shack etchant, which despite its obnoxious odour and corrosive nature, gives a super-realistic rust colour to the aluminum. All the metal castings were either pre-weathered with "Weather-It" solution, where they represented metal objects, to give a nice finish before final airbrushing of colours, or for "wood" items, airbrushed with Floquil "Earth" and then weathered with a stain of india ink in rubbing alcohol solution.

The wood timbers were roughed up with a file-card and then stained with the above india ink solution.
