My comments on assembling this kit can be read below.
The instructions for this kit are generally very good. Couple of omissions and some recommendations if you choose to put this together yourself:
1/ Use 5
minute epoxy to glue the 4 wall sections together. PVA doesn't hold well in this case.
2/ The instructions don't mention to cut the provided corrugated paper roofing materials into 36" (scale) wide sections. I found using PVA glue to stick these down softened the paper and distorted the corrugations and caused the paper to curl. Use 5 minute epoxy instead. Also, I was short some material, so made a 'tarpaper' patch where a few sheets have blown off the back of the roof.
3/The provided fascia boards in my example were a little on the short side so I had to trim the roof cards a bit first before gluing them on.
4/ I mounted the chimney at the very back, so that it lined up with the back wall, cutting a hole through the roof card and gluing the chimney casting to the rear wall. I added some paper 'flashing' around the chimney and 'caulked' up any gaps with some PVA glue mixed with some black paint to represent roofing tar.
5/ I mounted the building on a scrap of 1/8" masonite (I use the tempered variety to prevent warpage). Drill a hole up through the base into the phone pole to strengthen the joint. Use Woodland Scenics Medium Buff Ballast for the basic ground cover, then detail with ground foam 'grass', 'weeds' and some of their 'grass'. Add the kit castings and bond everything in place with diluted matte medium Give everything a wash of weathering solution (a few drops of india ink in about a half cup of rubbing alcohol).
